The Diocese
of Oregon, of which St. Bede’s is part, encompasses the region of
the state from the Cascades west. It is made up of 80 congregations. The
spiritual center is Trinity
Cathedral in Portland.
The Diocese of Oregon is one of 110 dioceses which
make up the Episcopal Church, and,
along with all other parts of the Anglican
Church family, it is in communion with the Archbishop of Canterbury in
England; spiritual head of, and sign of unity in, our tradition. All
national churches in the Anglican
Communion are self-governing; however, the leadership of the Communion
meets periodically to discuss important
issues and develop responses to contemporary questions.

St. Bede’s was founded in 1959, originally
meeting at the Pacific University
chapel. We moved to 1719 Cedar Street in 1964, and from that location to
here on Elm Street in 1983, across the street from St.
Anthony's Catholic Church.
Our congregation includes members from a variety
of spiritual backgrounds as well as those born into the Episcopal
Church.
St. Bede's is part of the Sunset
Convocation in the Diocese of
Oregon. We occasionally share a service with our nearest Episcopal
neighbor, All Saints' in Hillsboro.
