"I am sending him, that is, my own
heart, back to you."
Paul's
letter to Philemon
Vicars Past
The Rev. Brandon Lee Filbert served our Lord at St. Bede's for 14 years until
he was called to become rector of St.
Timothy's, Salem.

Fr. Brandon was made vicar of St. Bede's in 1993, having been ordained to
the deaconate in May of that year and then to the priesthood on the feast of
St. Andrew (Nov. 30).
Brandon was born and raised in Corvallis, Oregon, studied English and Psychology at Willamette University in Salem,
Oregon, and graduated in May, 1986.
He was confirmed in the Episcopal Church that year and three years later called to the
priesthood and sent by the Diocese of Oregon to General Theological
Seminary in New York. He and his wife Pamela moved to New York City for
the next four
years, after which he graduated with a Master of Divinity and was called
back to serve the Diocese of Oregon.
Brandon and Pamela have two sons, August and Lloyd.
In October, 2007, Brandon became rector of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church
in Salem, Oregon.

Fr. Brandon is devoted to the Gospel
as it has been received and
practiced in the Anglican tradition. His teaching focuses on how the church throughout history--as evident in the writings
and works of the early
disciples, the Church Fathers, the classic
16th/17th-century Anglican authors, and also Eastern Orthodox communities--responds to Jesus' call to be His disciples.
Rather than focusing on current ecclesiastic controversies, he put his
emphasis on what he was ordained to do: teach, preach, celebrate the
sacraments, console, declare forgiveness, be a pastor of souls, and model
his life on the Christ, the Anointed of God..
